Bringing you a Better Understanding

Tim Sutton

Alzheimer’s Disease, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and other Cognitive Disorders can lead to behaviors that are often misinterpreted. Our reactions to these behaviors can promote peaceful interactions and a positive outcome for everyone.

Training

Training on these behaviors is essential for public safety officers, hospitals personnel, educators, corporations, risk managers, and anyone who interacts with the general public.

Autism

According to the Centers for Disease Control 2020 statistics, autism is occurring at a rate of 1 in 54 births and is 4 times more prevalent for males.  The individuals deserve to be understood and given opportunities just like everyone else.

Alzheimer's/Dementia

The National Alzheimer’s Association states that there are 5.8 million people in the U.S. suffering with Alzheimer’s Disease, and 50 million individuals worldwide dealing with a form of Dementia.  The question is not whether we will interact with individuals dealing with these disorders, the question is when.

At A Better Understanding, our goal is very simple.

We want to educate and inform

A Better Understanding

Objective

Our goal at A Better Understanding is not to only explain why these behaviors occur, but we want to advocate, educate, and provide information on ways to positively act, react, and interact with special populations.  There have been numerous incidents over the years with individuals with cognitive disorders and many times the situations have ended with a negative outcome. ABU training has the potential to decrease liability in many situations.
